Janice Housey
Founding Member and Attorney

Janice is a founding member of Litmus Law, with a tenured career of more than 25 years in the field of trademark and general IP law. She specializes in counseling clients in all aspects of trademarks, trade dress, domain names and copyrights. She advises both emerging and established businesses - in the U.S. and globally - from conception through enforcement. Through strategic global relationships with in-country counsel, Ms. Housey manages clients' worldwide trademark portfolios. She also specializes in assisting clients with difficult trademark matters in Latin America. She has successfully recovered more than 100 domain names in dispute proceedings under ICANN's Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy.

Helene Stanonik
Senior Paralegal

Helene's professional career started as an outside trademark researcher for various law firms. In 2003, she made the leap to working directly for Janice Housey.  She brings to Litmus Law her 40+ years of experience in the field.  With her vast relevant experience, she is an integral part of the Litmus Law team. Her particular expertise is in the areas of trademark searches and substantive Office Action responses.  She also assists Janice in various other aspects of trademark protection including Trademark Trial and Appeal Board matters (e.g., discovery, basic motions, and compiling exhibits).

Kathryn "Katie" Compton
Paralegal

Katie joined Litmus Law in early 2024, originally as a Legal Assistant. She is a graduate from Ohio University, earning a Master of Arts in Law, Justice & Culture. Before this, she received her undergraduate degree in Public Policy with a minor in Sociology from Penn State Harrisburg.

In her current role as a Paralegal, Katie assists with trademark filings, docket management, and legal research and writing, particularly in connection with substantive Office Action responses, disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and other contentious matters. In addition, Katie helps to keep our clients up-to-date about new legal developments, changes at the USPTO, practice tips, and upcoming events, including our webinar series.

Audrey Husted
Legal Assistant

Audrey joined Litmus Law as a Legal Assistant in 2026 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Geneva College.

At Litmus, Audrey assists with trademark filings, reviewing watch service reports, docket management, and communications with the USPTO. In addition, Audrey assists with billing and other business operations matters and contributes to projects involving firm automation, process improvement, and workflow optimization.

Maria Housey
Legal Assistant

Maria joined the team in 2025 after completing her Bachelor's degree at Shepherd University with a major in Communication Studies. She works with Litmus on various administrative tasks, such as billing and many "behind-the-scenes" projects that help us provide cost-effective and high-quality services to our clients.  

Veronica Fortune
Legal Assistant

Veronica joined us in 2023 and is currently enrolled in a local college. She works with Litmus on various administrative tasks such as billing, accounts receivables, and sending our clients all of those reminders about upcoming deadlines.
